‘I remembered it’: CammyTier1ECL answers selection controversy in Celtic Union victory

Celtic Union recovered from their opening defeat with a 4-2 victory over South Europe, driven by two goals and an assist from CammyTier1ECL in a performance shaped by his controversial absence from their previous match.
The defending champions entered their second Group B fixture under pressure after losing 2-1 to South England, while South Europe were also searching for their first points following a 6-2 defeat against North Anglia.
Celtic Union made the stronger start and went ahead after 16 minutes. RememberPastGlory created the opening for SamuuFrost, who converted to give his side an early lead.
South Europe still carried a significant attacking threat, forcing stopgap goalkeeper hesjonnytw_n into several important interventions. He eventually made 10 saves and prevented an estimated 2.04 goals, providing the foundation for Celtic Union’s victory despite their opponents producing 16 shots on target.
The decisive moments came either side of half time. CammyTier1ECL doubled the advantage in the 45th minute before striking again four minutes after the restart, finishing from RememberPastGlory’s pass to put Celtic Union three goals ahead. His impact went beyond the scoreline.
South Europe continued to create opportunities rather than allowing the match to drift. MIKBANK reduced the deficit in the 84th minute after being supplied by GUERRILLASTYLE, setting up a tense finish for a Celtic Union side that had already surrendered control for extended periods.
South Europe continued to create opportunities rather than allowing the match to drift. MIKBANK reduced the deficit in the 84th minute after being supplied by GUERRILLASTYLE, setting up a tense finish for a Celtic Union side that had already surrendered control for extended periods.
That pressure produced a second goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time. GUERRILLASTYLE registered another assist as THOEGAMERALT scored to make it 3-2 and leave the defending champions facing the possibility of dropping further points.
Celtic Union responded immediately. CammyTier1ECL released cornziii at the opposite end, and the attacker completed the scoring in the 95th minute to secure a victory that was far less comfortable than the final margin suggested.
South Europe finished with the higher expected goals total, created 10 chances to Celtic Union’s four and recorded 16 shots on target. Their second successive defeat therefore owed more to missed opportunities and hesjonnytw_n’s performance than a lack of attacking production. Celtic Union were considerably more clinical, converting four of their nine shots on target. The result puts their campaign back on course after the narrow defeat to South England, although their defensive vulnerability will remain a concern before the remaining group fixtures.
For CammyTier1ECL, however, the evening represented more than three points. He had controversially been condemned to the bench despite being a crucial figure for his side in the Euroregions tournament, but two goals, an assist and the player of the match award offered an emphatic answer on his return to the international stage. Speaking after the match, he said:
“People made their decision last time and I remembered it. I did not need to argue about it because I knew I would eventually get the opportunity to answer on the pitch.”
Celtic now look ahead to their final match against North Anglia, who they previously beat 8-2 in the last group game of the Euroregions Tournament. For South Europe, they'll be hoping results elsewhere go their way to stay alive in this tournament.
