Telford Town

Official Club Statement

To our supporters,

Since taking charge of Telford Town last season, our priority has been to restore stability to a club facing an extremely difficult financial situation. We inherited a squad built under a transfer policy that left the club with significant financial commitments, including approximately £300,000 spent on Paparak and Pralact, alongside a further £150,000 invested in Lezec.

When we arrived, the club had just £13,000 available, leaving us unable to make any new signings throughout the season. Despite those limitations, the squad and staff came together to achieve something remarkable, securing a 2nd-place finish and earning promotion to the Second Division. That achievement brought additional revenue and gave us an opportunity to begin rebuilding the club.

However, promotion alone was not enough to resolve our financial challenges. To strengthen the squad while remaining competitive at a higher level, we first made the difficult decision to sell three players, generating £377,000 in transfer income. We then invested £525,000 to bring in three players we believe are essential to keeping Telford Town competitive this season.

As a result, the club must generate at least £115,000 before Gameweek 8 to avoid falling into debt. This is not a position anyone at the club wanted to be in, but after carefully assessing every available option, we believe these decisions were necessary to protect both our competitiveness and our long-term future.

We are already working to resolve this situation, and discussions regarding the potential sale of another player are progressing well. We are confident that this move will return the club to a stable financial position while allowing us to continue building a squad capable of competing at this level.

We understand that seeing players leave is never easy, and we know these decisions can be frustrating. Every choice has been made with the long-term interests of Telford Town in mind. Our objective has always been to rebuild responsibly, recover from the financial difficulties we inherited, and create a club capable of competing sustainably for years to come.

We ask for your continued patience and support during this period. Together, we have already overcome enormous challenges by earning promotion against the odds. We firmly believe that, with your backing, we can overcome this financial hurdle as well and continue moving Telford Town in the right direction.

Thank you for standing with us through both the highs and the lows. Your support means everything to the players, the staff, and everyone working behind the scenes.

Together, we move forward. Up the Forgers.
