Scandobaltics overcome early scare to cruise past Balkans
Scandobaltics weathered an early scare before taking complete control after the break, opening their International Series campaign with an eye-catching victory.
The Balkans made the stronger start and took the lead after 24 minutes when Pavleovic converted with a wonderful strike from DIVATHINMUFFINS' assist. Their advantage was doubled in the 38th minute as K3DSW finished a move created by mateiryan, rewarding a clinical opening in which Balkans scored with both of their first two shots on target.
Scandobaltics needed a response before the interval and found one through bIondage in stoppage time. His goal reduced the deficit to 2-1 and changed the complexion of a match that had threatened to move beyond them.
The momentum carried into the second half. TyroneBeater11 equalised in the 56th minute before bIondage struck again two minutes later, completing a rapid turnaround and putting Scandobaltics ahead for the first time.
Balkans remained within one goal for much of the second half, but Scandobaltics maintained control and eventually pulled clear in stoppage time. Substitute lillax2 scored twice in three minutes, first converting from blondage’s pass before adding another from Bxny’s assist.
BIondage then completed his hat trick in the 95th minute, sealing an emphatic victory and a standout individual performance. He finished with three goals, one assist and the Man of the Match award, while also completing five of his seven attempted dribbles.
The final score reflected the quality of Scandobaltics’ chances rather than a significant difference in possession. They held 52% of the ball but recorded 14 shots to Balkans’ seven and generated 4.46 expected goals compared with 0.72. DivaThinMuffins made nine saves to prevent the margin from becoming even wider, but Balkans struggled to create after establishing their early lead. Scandobaltics’ pressure and greater attacking variety eventually overwhelmed a defence that faced repeated waves of attacks after the interval.
The result gives Scandobaltics an immediate platform in the International Series, while the manner of the comeback may prove equally significant. Balkans demonstrated their threat during a clinical opening period but must now respond after surrendering control so decisively once the game turned.
