Stamford Athletic completed the double after defeating Stocksbridge Town 5-1 in the Carablox Cup final, pulling away late on after their opponents briefly threatened to turn the contest into a tense finale.

The league champions made the ideal start after just eight minutes when House77O brought down akumaki inside the penalty area. The Stocksbridge centre back was shown a yellow card for the challenge before the Stamford forward calmly converted the resulting spot kick.

Their control of the first half was rewarded again in the 26th minute. Vxntre released akumaki, who doubled the advantage to put Stamford firmly in command heading into the interval.

Stocksbridge refused to fade away and gave themselves hope with 15 minutes remaining. joeloansah finished from 3upariu's delivery to reduce the deficit to 2-1 and temporarily shift the momentum of the final. Their goalkeeper harmoush pulled off an impressive acrobatic feat as Stamford attempted an immediate break from kick off, headering the ball back into his own box to collect it safely.

Any hopes of a comeback were however quickly extinguished. ectraa's pass released Vxntre to restore Stamford's two goal cushion in the 82nd minute, before the champions punished an increasingly stretched defence deep into stoppage time.

PERPGAI added the gloss the performance deserved with two goals in added time, both created by akumaki, sealing a scoreline that perhaps looked harsher on Stocksbridge than the contest had been for much of the afternoon.

The statistics illustrated Stamford's superiority. They generated an xG of 6.80 to Stocksbridge's 2.76, created more than twice as many chances and recorded 16 shots on target, consistently asking questions of the Stocksbridge defence despite possession remaining almost evenly split.

Akumaki's contribution proved decisive, as two goals, two assists and the opening breakthrough from the penalty spot earned him the Man of the Match award as Stamford rounded off a remarkable campaign by adding the Carablox Cup to their league title.
